Moose Dies After Being Struck By Car In Connecticut
State officials said the moose was struck by a car Saturday morning on a highway.

ESSEX, CT — A moose was killed after being struck by a car in Essex Saturday morning, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said. DEEP officials said they found the moose about 50 yards from the highway and because of the injuries it sustained the moose had to be put down.
The accident occurred on Route 9 near Exit 4 around 10:30 a.m. when a car struck the moose, DEEP said. The moose left the highway and went into nearby woods after being struck by the car.
The car was headed southbound when it hit the moose. At this time it does not appear that people in the car were injured, officials said.
