New Shoreline Music Monthly Tuesday Night On VSCTV!

Our guest this month is Ramblin' Dan Stevens - on "The Cabinet" we take a look at the diddley bow.

Episode 11 of Shoreline Music Monthly will debut Tuesday night Sept. 30th at 8PM on VSCTV. That is channel 19 for you folks with Comcast on the shoreline, channel 99 on Uverse, or you can choose to watch it streaming off the VSCTV website at VSCTV.com.

This month on Shoreline Music Monthly, we are very happy to present Ramblin’ Dan Stevens. Known as much for his authentic interpretations of classic blues (and putting amazing amount of miles on his cars), he is also an accomplished songwriter. We talked about everything from hub caps to Dave Van Ronk before letting him loose to play a few of his original songs. And he brought Bob “The Wizard Of The Blues” McCarthy in with him to lay out the low end.

On The Cabinet Of Curiosities this month we take a look at a classic - the diddley bow. And having Dan Stevens - an accomplished diddley bow player as a guest, it seemed natural to see if he would help out with the segment. He graciously agreed, and wouldn’t you know it, Mr McCarthy was able to hop in on the diddley bow bass!! You will not want to miss their diddley bow duo.

Now you know we wouldn’t let a month go by without passing along info on a local charity event where you would have the opportunity to listen to fantastic local musicians, while helping out somebody along the way. This month we come bearing info on not one, but two, wonderful events.

Margaret’s Wish (benefitting Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center) will take place 10/11 at The Swede Club in Deep River featuring several local musicians (including one fronted by one of SMMs own camera operators).

And Malley O’Shea from Vista Vocational stopped by to talk about Vista’s upcoming Tour de Shore fundraising bicycle ride. It will take place Oct. 19th from the Westbrook Elks lodge and promises to be a great day of cycling, music (provided by Frank Nerkowski), food and fun. What beats a shoreline ride?
