Obituary: Charles H. Vollhardt, 61, of Clinton

Charles was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a lover of fishing and hunting.

Charles H. Vollhardt, of Clinton, died on September 19, 2017. He was born in Middletown, the son of Phillip and Gloria Vollhardt. Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a supervisor with R & K Spero McDonalds.

Charles was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time aboard his boat, Bear Fin III with his good friend, Don Kallinich. He also enjoyed hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Nola Whalen (age 2), and Eyas Vollhardt-Tran (age 1).

Charles is survived by his wife Susan; children Lindsey Vollhardt-Tran and her spouse Minh of Hampton, NH, Laura Whalen and her husband Trey of Cornish, NH, and grandchildren Nola and Eyas. He was survived by siblings Donald Watkins, Elizabeth Edwards, Philip Vollhardt, Henry Vollhardt, Joan Vollhardt, Phyllis Vollhardt, Jeanice Ripple, and James Vollhardt. Charles was also survived by his mother-in-law, Jane Kallinich; brother-in-law, Rob Kallinich; and sister-in-laws, Karen Gauvin and Wendy Kallinich, along with many other loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 27th from 5-8 pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton, CT 06413. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (www.rmhc.org). There will be a private graveside burial at a later time.
