Obituary: Donald W. Blifford, 61, of Clinton

Donald W. Blifford, 61, of Clinton, passed away at his home on December 2, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, NC on November 13, 1955 Don is the son of the late Donald J. and Barbara Ann (Wetherington) Blifford.

Don is survived by his brothers David and his wife Carol of Deep River and Jay of Clinton and by his loving fire department family. In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his brothers Ronald and Robert.

Don began his career as a Firefighter at the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company in 1974 working there until 1987. He then began his lifelong career with the Clinton Fire Department in 1988. In addition, Don became the State of Connecticut Forestry Warden in 1991 and Department Quartermaster in 2003.

Family and friends may join at the Killingworth Congregational Church on December 17, 2016 at 10 a.m., burial to follow in the memorial gardens. Swan Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don's name to the Clinton Fire Department, 35 E. Main St., Clinton CT 06413.
