On October 30, 2014, Clinton Rotary Club celebrated Morgan School and HKHS Student of the Month. Each month during the school year, Clinton Rotary Club holds a dinner for the recipients and their families. Each school is presented with a plaque with all Student of Month’s names. The plaques are kept on display at each school. The students also are presented a Rotary pen, “four way test” coin and a framed certificate. Pictured here are Clinton Rotary Club’s Co-Chairperson, Marcia Bird, Morgan School’s Nominating Teacher, Susan Peterson and Morgan School’s Student of the Month, Andraya Carse.
It was an exciting evening for all. Susan Peterson, Morgan School Nominating Teacher, introduced Freshman, Andraya Carse, and gave a wonderful presentation of this student’s accomplishments.
Andie (as she is known by all) is already an accomplished business woman with her own non-profit company, Andie’s Confections. Andie began her work in sixth grade when she realized she wanted to make more of a difference in the world than her weekly allowance allowed her. Over the last three years, Andie has raised more than $10,000. The majority of her profits have gone to Kids for Kids where she is also a Junior Board Member. Kids for Kids is an organization that helps kids in need. Andie also donates to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. And she has sold her chocolates at a local sweet shop. She offers seasonal choices like pumpkin in the fall and peppermint during the holidays. This entrepreneur donates 100% of her profits to charity and truly exemplifies Rotary International’s Service Above Self.
