The contractor's tax evasion led to more than $200,000 in losses for the IRS, according to prosecutors.
OLD SAYBROOK, CT — An Old Saybrook contractor has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Dimitrios Kassimis, aka Jimmy, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in U.S. District Court in Hartford.
Kassimis owns and operates various entities related to his construction business, including Allstate Contracting Group and JRC Renovations, according to prosecutors. An investigation revealed that Kassimis did not have any personal bank accounts and paid all of his personal expenses through his business bank accounts. He also made cash withdrawals from the business accounts at casinos for personal expenses, according to prosecutors.
