Plans Call For Popular Restaurants To Open At Old Saybrook Shopping Center

Plans submitted to the town include the addition of two popular restaurants, a coffee shop, and other tenants.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — Plans submitted to the town show a proposed multi-tenant building that will host Chipotle, Jersey Mike's, and three others.

The plans for expanding the shopping center, called Max's Place, at 12 and 22 Spencer Plains Road, were filed with the Architectural Review Board.

The proposed 7,549-square-foot building would be in the same plaza as existing businesses such as Kohl's, Big Y, T-Mobile, and Five Guys.

The plans show a Jersey Mike's, a Chipotle, an unnamed coffee shop, and two other tenants would comprise the new addition.

The expansion plan for the shopping center has evolved over the last year, according to The Connecticut Scoop. It was once supposed to be a larger development on Boston Post Road, but plans have moved closer to the existing buildings.

Jersey Mike's is anticipated to open an Ellington store soon as well and is nearing 50 restaurants across Connecticut.

The sub shop began as a single storefront in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, in 1956 and has since grown into a major fast-casual chain with thousands of locations across the United States and Canada.

Chipotle opened a Cheshire store last year. The chain, which specializes in bowls, tacos, and burritos made to order in front of the customer, has dozens of locations across the state and has been rapidly expanding in recent years.
