'Quiet Leader & Active Volunteer': Clinton Star Student

CLINTON, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Tami Cogar who nominated Bella, an 8th grader at Jared Elliott Middle School in Clinton.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

In town, she's known for being an active volunteer in the community. She is a quiet leader, and known in for trying to make her school community a better place. She has been recognized for this by her teachers (recently winning the"cut above award")

Bella always strives to do her best. She loves animals and plans on being a vet. Recently she had a fall off a horse and had to go to the hospital, but did not want to leave the horse, because she felt the horse was upset (she ended up needing a plate and screws to repair her broken arm).

She is the one Who shows everyone what to do by simply Is doing what she knows to be right.
Lastly Bella wants to learn new things all the time, she goes hunting, pest trapping and practices survival skills with her uncle Rob. All while maintaining high honors at school.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

This is a difficult question since there are so many wonderful things about Bella, that I wish many people could experienceI
