Sexual Assault Lands Clinton Man in Jail for 7 Years

The 68-year-old man was sentenced after sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy.

Sixty-eight year old Clinton resident William Motta Sr. was sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy, the New Haven Register reported.

Motta was arrested in March 10, 2014, after a four-month investigation found he had sexually assaulted a local child at his home.

Clinton Police Chief Todd J. Lawrie reported then that Motta had previous convictions “in the 1970s and 80s for the same type activity.”

Motta was not on the sex offender registry because the prior assaults occurred before the sex offender registry statute was in place, Lawrie said then.

The man is reportedly ill and court officers theorized he will spend the rest of his life in jail.
