Special episode of Shoreline Music Monthly Tuesday night!

Celebrate Shoreline music Monthly's birthday with us on Tuesday night at 8 on VSCTV.

As we have just wrapped a year of bringing you some of the best in local music, we pause to take a look back at the little open mic in Higganum that created a lot of the musical connections that, in some way or other, made this show happen.

We have assembled 5 of the many singer/songwriters that made Friday nights at JMartins a regular stop. Frank Nerkowski (who hosted the original open mic), and mainstays Tim Foley, Mark Fornwald, Cathy Yuhas and Bruce Thorndike all stopped by, and in true open mic format, took turns playing original songs. We were even able to coax some of the original Round Table Rhythm Section to come down to add the spark.

Gary Buttery - conductor of Old Saybrook’s TubaChristmas - stops by and pulls triple duty..... Not only does he perform with his URI tuba quintet, but he shares his vast knowledge of all things tuba with us in this months Cabinet Of Curiosities, and he fill us in of the upcoming TubaChristmas event, puts on his conductor hat, and runs the largest group of tubas ever assembled (in the VSCTV station anyway) in a couple numbers from the TubaChristmas song book.

There will be a new tab on Shoreline Music Monthly’s website highlighting local open mics. If you host one and would like it added to the list, please forward all the helpful info (day, time, location, type/genre etc) to ShorelineMusicMonthly@gmail.com. Our website can be found here:

And remember:
The station server will no longer be the “go to” place for on-demand viewing of previously aired episodes. Rather, you will want to catch them on our Youtube page.
It is now, more important than ever to subscribe to our Youtube page to make sure you never miss a thing. As you know, we often have “bonus footage” that doesn’t fit in the broadcast episode, but is released later through Youtube!
