CLINTON, CT — A 14-year-old New Haven resident is accused of robbing a gas station in Clinton early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Police received a 911 call around 3:25 a.m. on the report of an armed robbery at the 24-hour Shell gas station at 115 High Street in Clinton, according to Detective Corporal Spencer Mangs.

The cashier told police that the teen entered the store around 3:20 a.m. and approached the counter. The cashier said the teen pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at him, ordering him not to move or he would shoot him, according to Mangs.
“The suspect then reached over the counter and took approximately $377 from the cash register before running out of the store and entering a dark-colored sedan which was parked outside waiting for him,” Mangs wrote in a news release. “It was later confirmed that the suspect vehicle had previously been carjacked out of New Haven.

“After a swift but thorough multijurisdictional investigation involving other towns on the shoreline, the Clinton Police Department’s Investigative Section was able to make a positive identification on the 14-year-old juvenile suspect. Clinton detectives subsequently responded to the juvenile’s residence in New Haven.”
With assistance from New Haven police, Clinton detectives apprehended and charged the juvenile on the same day with first-degree robbery.
Mangs said the teen has an extensive and violent criminal history and faces multiple other charges from other agencies “stemming from crimes he committed with other juveniles immediately after the Clinton robbery.”
The teen was being held at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, according to Mangs.
In total, the teen and his accomplices committed a string of five armed robberies along the shoreline stretching from Clinton to Norwalk, Mangs said.
