Vehicle Broken Into, Men Try to Break Into Vending Machines at Clinton Crossings: Police

Clinton Police detail recent calls the department has responded to, including illegal credit card use and spray paint damage at a school.

CLINTON, CT — Several residents reported illegal credit card use, scams and identity theft in recent calls to the Clinton Police Department. Police also responded to a report of a vehicle break-in and a school building damaged by spray paint, according to the department’s Police Block Watch Weekly Newsletter (covering reports from Sept. 2 to Sept. 16).

Police also received a complaint from Clinton Crossings mall that two men attempted to break into vending machines.

On 09/02/16 at approximately 1019 hours, a complainant from Colonial Drive reported a blue Prius or Subaru was going door to door selling items. The caller did not believe seller had a permit. The area was checked and the vehicle had left prior to the officers’ arrival.

Call # 16-15475, Suspicious Vehicle Summary: Ofc. Glenn Smith

On 09/02/16 at approximately 2324 hours, a caller from Ironworks Road reported a tan SUV was parked in the roadway, left running, the caller did not know if it was occupied. The area was checked and the vehicle had left prior to the officers’ arrival.

Call # 16-15480, Criminal Mischief to Vending machines report, Summary: Ofc. Brian Corbin

On 09/03/16 at approximately 0110 hours, a complainant from Clinton Crossings mall, reported that subjects attempted to break into vending machines. The suspects were described as two white males in their late twenties, who left in a small red pickup truck possibly a Toyota.

On 09/07/16 at approximately1333 hours, a complainant from the Joel School reported spray damage on the building.

On 09/09/16 at approximately 1711 hours, a complainant from Founder’s Road reported that their credit was used without their permission.

On 09/10/16 at approximately 1106 hours, a complainant from East Main Street reported that a theft by scam.

On 09/12/16 at approximately 1804 hours, a complainant from Olde Orchard Road reported that their credit was used without their permission.

Call # 16-16193, Suspicious Person(s) Summary: Ofc. Glenn Smith

On 09/14/16 at approximately 1305 hours, a caller from Kelseytown Road reported a black sedan CT reg. OARH8, was traveling door to door soliciting for paving jobs. The Operator of the vehicle was stopped and advised to obtain a permit for door to door solicitation.

On 09/15/16 at approximately 0931 hours, a caller from John Street extension reported her vehicle was broken into.
