Westbrook Family Raising Money for Son’s Funeral After Being Hit by Van

WESTBROOK, CT- After their son was hit by a Ford Transit rental van and killed over the holiday weekend, a local family is working to raise money for his burial, the New Haven Register reported.

While walking alongside the northbound side of Interstate 95 close to 2 a.m. on Sunday, Matthew D’Orio, 20, was hit between Exits 65 and 66 and died at the scene, as reported by the New Haven Register. The out-of-state driver was uninjured in the crash, and police are still investigating why D’Orio was walking alongside the highway at the time.

D’Orio’s father, Paul, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his son’s funeral and burial,as reported by the New Haven Register. The page has raised $9,015 from more than 150 people as of Wednesday afternoon, with a goal of raising $10,000.
