Woman Accused Of Defrauding Elderly Old Saybrook Man Of $164K: Report
A New Jersey woman has been charged with defrauding an elderly Old Saybrook man, according to a report.
OLD SAYBROOK, CT — A woman has been arrested on allegations she stole $164,284 from an elderly Old Saybrook man, according to WTNH News-8. The man discovered he was a victim of fraud when he found that amount had been removed from his checking account.
Ashlee Crawford, 33, of Plainfield, NJ, allegedly wrote and cashed fraudulent checks from the victim's account. She was charged with two counts of second-degree forgery and one count of first-degree larceny. Police arrested one other person alleged to be involved in the scheme and are searching for a third accomplice.
Crawford is being held on $250,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment at Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday.
