3 Danbury Vape Shops Busted In Marijuana, Underage Vape Sting: Police

Police said clerks sold marijuana to an undercover DEA agent and tobacco vapes to an underage person.

DANBURY, CT — Three Danbury vape shops failed compliance checks during an undercover operation that found more than 52 pounds of illicit THC products, according to police.

The Danbury Police Department's Special Investigations Division joined the DEA's Bridgeport Field Office and several state agencies Oct. 2 to inspect Star Rose Vape & Smoke Shop, Smoke House 2 and Smoke Station.

The operation focused on underage tobacco sales and the sale of illegal THC products, police said.

Police said the checks followed complaints, primarily from parents, about vape shops selling THC products and vapes to minors. Police have seized marijuana and other illicit products worth thousands of dollars during previous compliance checks, according to police.

All three businesses failed the Oct. 2 compliance checks, police said.

At Star Rose Vape & Smoke Shop, 2-4 Mill Ridge Road, a clerk sold a marijuana product to an undercover DEA agent and a tobacco vape to an underage person, according to police. Investigators also reported finding 28.86 raw-flower-equivalent pounds of illicit THC products, including flower, oil, concentrates and edibles.

At Smoke House 2, 10 Mill Plain Road, police said a clerk made the same two types of sales. Investigators reported finding 18.99 raw-flower-equivalent pounds of illicit THC products, including flower, oil, concentrates and edibles.

At Smoke Station, 246 White St., police said a clerk sold marijuana to the undercover agent and a tobacco vape to an underage person. Investigators reported finding 4.51 raw-flower-equivalent pounds of illicit THC products, including flower, oil and concentrates.

The clerks at Star Rose and Smoke House 2 were arrested on charges including possession with intent to sell more than one kilogram of cannabis and sale or manufacture of cannabis, police said. The Smoke Station clerk was arrested on a charge of sale or manufacture of cannabis.

All three also received infractions for the sale of an electronic cigarette to a minor.

Police said the illegal sale of THC products at Danbury vape shops remains under investigation.
