Police said due to the teens' physical reaction, they believe the brownies were possibly laced with synthetic marijuana.
DANBURY, CT — WTNH News reports that four teens from Henry Abbott Technical School ate pot brownies and were sent to Danbury Hospital. Authorities told the news channel that a juvenile student distributed the brownies.
Police said due to the teens' physical reaction, they believe the brownies were possibly laced with synthetic marijuana, they told WTNH.
According to American Association of Poison Control, synthetic marijuana is very different from marijuana because it contains powerful chemicals called "cannabimimetics" which can cause dangerous health effects.
The AAAPC lists the following life-threatening health effects from the drug:
- Severe agitation and anxiety.
- Fast, racing heartbeat and higher blood pressure.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Muscle spasms, seizures, and tremors.
- Intense hallucinations and psychotic episodes.
- Suicidal and other harmful thoughts and/or actions.
