UPDATE: Danbury Fire and EMS Respond to I-84 Crash

Crews used specialty tools including an apparatus-mounted winch in the rescue

DANBURY, CT — An accident with injuries slowed traffic eastbound on Interstate 84 Monday afternoon.

The Danbury Fire Department dispatched both fire and EMS crews to I-84 between exits 6 and 7 after receiving a report about a motor vehicle accident around 2:20 p.m. First responders found a truck and a car had collided, sending the car into the jersey barrier where the occupant needed assistance getting out of the vehicle.

Crews used specialty tools including an apparatus-mounted winch to move the cars away from the jersey barrier to free the motorist from the car.

EMS transported the motorist to the Danbury Hospital emergency room with minor injuries.
