The annual Amber Room Run from the Sun 5K, hosted by The Amber Room Colonnade, takes place Thursday!

The annual Amber Room Run from the Sun 5K, hosted by The Amber Room Colonnade, takes place Thursday, August 19. Over 400 runners and walkers are expected to participate in this year’s event! Amber Room Run from the Sun again benefits Ann’s Place. The 5K course runs from The Amber Room Colonnade to Candlewood Lake and back. The course passes scenic water views, stately homes and old lake communities. The first 400 entrants receive tech tees. After the race, all participants are invited to a cookout featuring an outdoor barbeque, beer for 21+, DJ, an awards ceremony and more.
The race is making a number of changes to make sure it meets or exceeds all state and local safety protocols. The following procedures have been taken to make sure race participants are as safe as possible:
- Masks are required (will be provided) when any participant is inside the Amber Room.
- Water bottles will be served to all participants at the Amber Room.
- A new contactless registration process has been instituted for this year’s race.
- All participants have been encouraged get vaccinated.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be located at numerous locations in and around the Amber Room.
- Tables and chairs will not be provided after the race for the post-race cookout. Participants are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to enjoy a socially distanced post-race cookout.
Doug Polistena, Amber Room General Manager, states, “We are honored and proud to have worked together with the community businesses for the last decade for this annual 5K race. After a tough year for everyone, we are excited to welcome runners back to the race. We always look forward to seeing everyone participate in support of Ann’s Place.”
