DANBURY, CT — Efforts to build a new fire station on Danbury’s west side are continuing to move forward, with city officials taking steps related to land acquisition and zoning.
According to a recent post by Danbury Professional Fire Fighters Local 801 IAFF, the city is working toward purchasing a portion of a larger property within “The Reserve” complex along Old Ridgebury Road.
The update referenced discussion from an April 7 meeting of the Danbury City Council, where officials outlined steps related to land acquisition and zoning.
The proposal involves acquiring roughly 3 acres of the site for $675,000, according to public records.
As part of the process, officials are also seeking to modify zoning regulations tied to the development. The council approved a resolution to amend the Reserve Master Plan, a step needed to allow a fire station to be built on the property.
The planned facility, often referred to as Station 27, is included in a voter-approved bond package totaling about $50 million aimed at upgrading fire department infrastructure across the city.
That funding plan also covers a new ladder truck assigned to the future station. The vehicle is currently being manufactured and is expected to be delivered in the near future.
Officials have said the new station is intended to address response time concerns in the western section of the city.
