Danbury Firefighters Respond To Multiple Mutual Aid Fires, Including 3-Alarm Blaze

DANBURY, CT — Danbury firefighters responded to multiple mutual aid fires in a single day, including a three-alarm house fire in New York where multiple residents were reported trapped.

According to Danbury Professional Fire Fighters, Local 801, crews were dispatched to a 3rd alarm fire on Old Shop Road in South Salem, New York, where heavy smoke and flames were visible from the home Thursday.

Several residents were initially inside the home when the fire broke out, according to The Journal News. One person was reported with life-threatening injuries, and two others were rescued with injuries of unknown severity.

First arriving crews encountered heavy fire conditions and a flashover while attempting rescues, officials said.

Danbury units, including Engine 26 and command staff, responded as part of a regional mutual aid effort alongside multiple New York departments.

Later in the day, Danbury crews also responded to a separate second-alarm structure fire in Bethel on Rector Street as part of another mutual aid call.

Officials have not released additional details about the causes of either fire.
