According to police, a Honda CR-V traveling southbound on Danbury Road lost control and struck a vacant building at that address.

The driver, identified as Nehemias Muruzumbay, was transported to Danbury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The crash prompted a closure of Danbury Road (Route 7) near the Danbury town line, with southbound traffic detoured onto Bennetts Farm Road and northbound traffic closed at Route 35, according to Ridgefield police.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Ridgefield Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, officials said.

The roadway later reopened to one lane in each direction as crews worked at the scene before fully reopening around 1 a.m., police said.

The building sustained structural damage, according to authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Ridgefield police.
