DANBURY, CT — Jersey Mike's is seeking approval to open a restaurant at Airport Plaza on Backus Avenue, according to an application before the Danbury Planning Commission.
The proposal seeks revised special exception and site plan approval to allow a fast-food restaurant at 20-28 Backus Ave. It would be the chain's second Danbury location, neighboring Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Buffalo Wild Wings.
Application materials show the sandwich chain would occupy a 1,200-square-foot space with seating for 10 customers and six employees.
The project includes about $350,000 in interior renovations, according to planning documents.
A traffic study submitted with the application found the proposal would generate an estimated 608 fewer daily vehicle trips than uses previously approved for the site.
The site used to be a Chuck E. Cheese, but has now been split between a smoke shop, wine and liquor store and the planned Jersey Mike's location.
The Planning Commission was scheduled to review the application during a public hearing Wednesday night.
