WESTPORT, CT — A 37-year-old Danbury man was arrested last week on harassment and threatening charges, after Westport police said he threatened his wife's former boss after the boss fired her.

Waleston DaSilva-Sousa was charged with second-degree harassment and second-degree threatening in connection with the case, which Westport police said began with a complaint from a business owner in early April.

"The victim explained that she was the owner of a cleaning service and recently learned that one of her employees had been arrested out of state for stealing from a customer’s home," Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso wrote in a statement. "After firing this employee, the victim began to receive calls and text messages of a threatening nature from someone presumed to be the fired employee’s husband."

Prezioso said that among the threats, the caller allegedly said "he would kill the victim’s daughter if his demands were not met."

"After an investigation into the identity of the person responsible for making these threats, it is alleged that this person was Waleston DaSilva-Sousa," Prezioso said. "An arrest warrant was sought and granted for him in connection with this investigation."

DaSilva-Sousa was taken into custody by Danbury police on June 11, and was transferred to Westport Police Headquarters where he was charged.

DaSilva-Sousa was released after posting bond on bail of $51,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 25.
