DANBURY, CT — A nearly 120,000-square-foot light industrial building has been proposed at Berkshire Corporate Park, the sprawling business park that spans Danbury, Bethel and Brookfield.
Danbury's Environmental Impact Commission is scheduled to review the proposal Wednesday night. The plans call for a 119,864-square-foot, two-story building on Riverview Drive, along with 219 parking spaces, grading, storm drainage and landscaping.
Application materials describe the building's intended use as manufacturing and light industrial. It would be constructed on an approximately 18.4-acre parcel within Berkshire Corporate Park that was approved in 2000 for a three-story office building, though that project was never built.
The city's initial review notes that tree clearing and rough grading occurred following the earlier approval.
The proposal is the latest planned development within Berkshire Corporate Park, which includes the former Duracell headquarters in Bethel. The approximately 300,000-square-foot office building once served as the company's world headquarters and has been the subject of redevelopment discussions in recent years.
According to Danbury's initial staff review, wetlands are located in the northern portion of the property, but no wetland impacts are proposed as part of the project. Staff recommended adding additional plantings north of a proposed level spreader.
The Environmental Impact Commission is scheduled to consider the proposal during its meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the City Hall Council Chambers.
