Motorcyclist Dies Days After Crash With Car In Danbury: Police

Police said the 31-year-old suffered critical injuries in the July 16 collision.

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury motorcyclist has died days after suffering critical injuries in a crash with a car earlier this month, according to police.

Philippe Silva, 31, died from injuries sustained in the July 16 collision on Newtown Road, Danbury police said Monday.

The crash happened at about 9:14 p.m. near 52 Newtown Road.

Police said Silva was operating a Yamaha FZ6-R motorcycle westbound on Newtown Road when it collided with a Kia Forte that was making a left turn into a private driveway.

Silva was transported to Danbury Hospital with critical injuries, according to police.

The Danbury Police Accident Investigation Team responded to reconstruct the crash and collect evidence.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and the exact cause of the crash is still under review, police said.
