Truck Driver Killed In I-84 Crash In Danbury: State Police

State police said one tractor-trailer left its lane and struck another truck parked on the shoulder.

DANBURY, CT — A truck driver was killed in an early-morning crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 84 in Danbury Wednesday, according to Connecticut State Police.

The crash occurred around 1:18 a.m. on I-84 west near Exit 1, police said.

According to a state police accident report, one tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder near the Exit 1 off-ramp when a second tractor-trailer traveling west left its lane and struck the rear of the parked truck.

The driver of the second tractor-trailer, 42-year-old Jason Valarezo of Manchester, New Hampshire, suffered fatal injuries, according to police.

The driver of the parked tractor-trailer was taken by Danbury EMS to Danbury Hospital for evaluation and treatment of suspected minor injuries, police said.

Both tractor-trailers sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene, police said. An I-84 west Exit 1 sign was also struck during the crash.
