15 Displaced, 1 Hospitalized After Danbury House Fire: Officials

DANBURY, CT — Fifteen people were displaced and one person was hospitalized after a fire broke out at a three-family home on Meadow Street Monday afternoon, according to the Danbury Fire Department.

Fire dispatch received a report of the blaze around 4 p.m. Engine 23 arrived to find a working fire on the third floor of the residence, officials said.

The fire was upgraded to a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene. Firefighters began battling the blaze inside the building while occupants were still evacuating.

Crews conducted primary and secondary searches after receiving reports that someone might still be inside. All occupants were safely accounted for, according to the department.

One person was treated at the scene for burns and smoke inhalation before being transported to Danbury Hospital's emergency department. Their condition was unknown as of the department's update.

The city's Office of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross are assisting the 15 displaced occupants.

The Danbury Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
