Danbury Man Found Dead In Swimming Pool Identified: Report

DANBURY, CT — An 89-year-old man found dead in a Danbury swimming pool last week has been identified as longtime resident Emilio Plante, according to a report

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Plante died from an accidental drowning, the News-Times reported. Plante was found at his Stadley Rough Road residence on Sept. 23 after emergency personnel responded to a 911 call from someone who had gone to clean the pool.

Danbury police said officers responded around 9 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive man in a pool. Officers found Plante who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said at the time that the incident appeared isolated and that the medical examiner would determine the cause of death.

Plante was a longtime Danbury resident who worked as a contractor for 60 years and founded Candlewood Construction, according to his obituary. He built his Stadley Rough Road home in 1964 and later became an avid golfer.
