DANBURY, CT — A Danbury man accused of wrongfully obtaining over $1 million from a Monroe homeowner was recently arrested, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice announced Thursday.
According to a news release provided by the DCJ, inspectors from the Statewide Prosecution Bureau in the Office of the Chief State's Attorney arrested Trevor Bridle, 49, of Danbury, on Sept. 24.
He was charged with first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny.
The arrest follows a complaint filed by the Department of Social Services' Protective Services for the Elderly, according to the DCJ.
According to the DCJ, an investigation revealed between December 2023 and April 2026, Bridle and associates "engaged in a scheme that resulted in the wrongful obtaining of more than $1.1 million from the Monroe homeowner."
The money was then transferred to various individuals and associated business entities, according to the DCJ.
The DCJ noted most of the money obtained was related to supposed improvements to the Monroe home.
According to the DCJ, investigators determined Bridle and co-conspirators billed the homeowner more than $900,000 for renovations to her 988‑square‑foot residence.
"Despite these substantial invoices, the property showed only minor cosmetic repairs, raising significant concerns of fraud and exploitation," the DCJ release reads.
Bridle is scheduled to appear in court later this month and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, according to the DCJ.
