DANBURY, CT — Nearly 70 firearms were turned in during a recent gun buyback event in Danbury, according to police.
The Danbury Police Department said 68 firearms were voluntarily surrendered during the event, including 46 rifles and 22 handguns.
Police thanked those who participated and said gun buyback events give community members an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted firearms.
"Events like this provide an important opportunity for community members to safely dispose of unwanted firearms and help reduce the risk of firearms falling into the wrong hands," the department said.
