DANBURY, CT — Danbury firefighters came to the aid of an elderly resident after his tractor became stuck on a muddy slope — and their work didn't end once he was safe.
Crews from the Danbury Fire Department's C Shift were called after the man's tractor became stuck in the mud in a precarious position, according to the department. Concerned that the tractor could flip, the man was unable to safely get himself off.
Deputy Chief Halas and his crew helped the man off the tractor and out of harm's way before stabilizing the tractor and removing it from the mud, fire officials said.
Before leaving, firefighters also helped repair damage to the man's lawn caused by the incident.
"This is what being part of a community is all about — helping when someone needs it, going the extra mile, and making sure our neighbors are safe," the department wrote.
