DANBURY, CT — Danbury police are asking for the public's help identifying a driver who reportedly approached a child walking home and told him to get into his vehicle.
The incident happened on Bittersweet Drive on Oct. 29, shortly before 3 p.m., according to information provided by the Danbury Police Department.
Police said the driver, described as an older white man, stopped beside the child and told him to "get in."
The child did not enter the vehicle, and the child's parent later reported the encounter to police.
Police released photos showing what appears to be a white or light-colored four-door sedan with dark wheels. The photos can be viewed in the department's Facebook post.
Danbury police are working with Connecticut State Police as the investigation continues. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area, authorities said.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the encounter, recognizes the vehicle or has surveillance footage from the area to contact the Danbury Police Department.
Authorities also encouraged parents to remind children not to approach or enter vehicles with people they do not know.
