Details of good work done or being done
Amy and Ashley are staff members at Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) who slept at the shelter Tuesday night to make sure all the dogs and cats were safe and well cared for during the storm. They were prepared for what they would do if the shelter lost power and heat and the generator ran out of gas. Neither were asked to do this, they did so voluntarily. Both worked their normal shifts at the shelter the following morning. Amy and Ashley had their own slumber party, bringing Lizzie the dog up front for the fun.
Why do you feel is this person an everyday hero?
I feel they are everyday heroes because they did this without thinking twice about it. When I asked Amy about it, she said, “I did it for the animals, that’s really all I care about. They’re like my own animals, and my family.”
