Due to scheduling conflicts from that weekend on, the six Champion teams headed to Baltimore on April 12 decided to cancel their plans and remain in town to support Jaxxon. 86 athletes gave up their chance at a national title and put someone else’s needs ahead of cheering.
Jaxxon Reed is a remarkable young man with an incredible story. He was diagnosed at the age of 7 with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer. The prognosis was grim and Jaxxon was not expected to survive more than two years. Jaxxon has defied the odds and 8 years later is still surpassing his doctors’ expectations.

It has been a difficult road with multiple surgeries and Jaxxon’s illness has taken a heavy toll on him and his family, physically, financially and emotionally.
Doctors and researchers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center are following Jaxxon’s case as he continues to exceed expectations.
Each year, the athletes, coaches and volunteers at Champion All Star Gym come together to celebrate a day devoted to Jaxxon. Every athlete at the gym wears a tee shirt with Jaxxon’s image on it, over their uniform. The fundraiser is a chance to contribute the funds raised to Jaxxon’s family to offset the huge financial burden of caring for a sick child.
The athletes from Champion as well as some local high school teams will perform in exhibition. Gift baskets will be raffled off and concessions will be available. There will be a karate exhibition, as well as fun activities for the kids – a bounce house and face painting! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
