Another National Retailer Closing 3 CT Locations
The retailer announced that three locations in Connecticut will close in the coming weeks.

DANBURY, CT — Brookstone announced that it is closing all of its 101 mall locations across the country, including three in Connecticut amid a bankruptcy filing.
Brookstone has locations in Danbury, Waterford and at Mohegan Sun casino. The company sells niche electronic and other items. The chain previously had a location in the Trumbull mall as well.
"Today, we announced we’re closing our mall stores in the coming weeks. However, our website and airport stores are open for business! We will continue to provide you with the products you love. Thank you for your loyalty over the years," Brookstone tweeted Thursday. Brookstone has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2014 as well, according to court filings.
"Today we have taken several important steps to restructure the business and ensure that Brookstone will be well-positioned to succeed for years to come," said Chief Executive Piau Phang Foo.

The company said it is seeking a buyer and announced in a tweet Thursday that the closures would happen in the “coming weeks.”
Brookstone said it was faced with an extremely challenging retail environment at malls, but looks forward to its internet and airport future.
“Our airport, e-commerce and wholesale business divisions are operating successfully and should prove attractive to a buyer with the financial resources and vision to carry our company into the future,’ said Foo. The company said it has secured access to about $30 million in post-petition financing to support operations during the sale and restructure.
