Boat Explosion Reported On Candlewood Lake In Danbury

Multiple emergency crews responded after reports of people in the water.

DANBURY, CT — Two people were taken to the hospital after a boat fire on Candlewood Lake in Danbury on Memorial Day afternoon, according to officials.

Emergency crews responded to a reported boat fire near the Danbury boat launch on Hayestown Road.

Officials said six occupants evacuated and were assisted by the Candlewood Lake Authority.

According to authorities, one person was transported with a minor burn injury, while another was taken to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

The fire was extinguished by responding crews, officials said.
