Bookkeeper Allegedly Embezzles $165K from Tree Services Company

She is due in Danbury Superior Court in January to answer to the charges.

Bernice Dohn, 55, of Milford, has been accused of embezzling over $165,000 while working as a bookkeeper for a Redding tree service company, according to the CT Post.

Dohn was arrested on Dec. 5 and has been charged with seven counts of second-degree forgery and one count of larceny. The skimming allegedly took place over the course of two years while she was bookkeeper for Evergreen Enterprises in Redding.

According to reports, the Berlin Police Department began investigating Dohn after seeing that she allegedly deposited $53,000 into her bank account over a nine-month period. Berlin Police notified her employer, Chris Hyatt and charged her on Sept. 19 with second-degree larceny.

Dohn is free on $75,000 bond. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. She is due in Danbury Superior Court on Jan. 9, 2015.
