Immaculate High School

The local community is invited to join a multi-generational effort to combat food insecurity on Saturday, April 18. Immaculate High School's Alumni Class of 1968 and the Youth Volunteer Corps are teaming up for a "Stuff the Van" food drive benefiting the Jericho Partnership Food Bank.
The mission is simple: fill the local school van to the brim with non-perishable food donations to support neighbors in need. To make participation as easy as possible, this is a quick and convenient drive-through event. Donors can simply pull up to the front driveway of the school between 8am-12pm&nbsp;and volunteers will be on hand to unload donations directly from your vehicle.
We welcome alumni, parents, students and neighbors to stop by. Whether it’s a single bag of groceries or a full trunk of supplies, every item makes a difference.
Most Needed Items:
<ul><li>Canned proteins (tuna, chicken, beans)</li><li>Pasta, rice, and cereal</li><li>Canned soups, vegetables, and fruit</li><li>Peanut butter and jelly</li></ul>

Derek Piotr is a folklorist, researcher and performer whose work focuses primarily on the human voice. His work covers practices including fieldwork, vocal performance, preservation and autoethnography; and is primarily concerned with tenderness, fragility, beauty and brutality. He has collaborated with artists including Scott Solter, Nathan Salsburg and Thomas Brinkmann across various disciplines.
The Derek Piotr Fieldwork Archive (<a href="https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=http%3a%2f%2ffieldwork-archive.com&amp;c=E,1,26s0-Vdph_4xitHLPzohDuAKFvfnjnWIfBFJaDu8EbHLE62L5gvzMXdS9HZso27n2Ixhbix-U8kLhKAl9fzRneRooCq1-7TGuYVm1PUrS2egsjbKAma7LUIqbw,,&amp;typo=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">fieldwork-archive.com</a>) was established by Derek Piotr in August 2022. The Archive contains over 1,500 audio recordings made from March 2020 onward, and preserves diverse representations of folklife; ballads, hymns, tales, poems, children’s songs, and interviews among them. The focus of this collection is on the "non-singer": someone with no background in musical performance who can nevertheless relate a song or folkloric memory.&nbsp;
In this lecture, Derek will walk you through the process of journeying everywhere from Iceland to Appalachia to record these songs from non-musicians, as well as the organization and development of the Archive as a web-based repository.&nbsp;This event is part of the Danbury Museum's #Danbury250 yearlong programming series and is FREE and open to all!
