Musicals at Richter’s Fairy Tale Theater for Young People

Begins 25th Season Saturday, July 11!

Danbury, Conn. – Musicals at Richter (MAR) begins its 25th season of Fairy Tale Theater, a play series by and for young people, on Saturday, July 11 on the grounds of Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road, in Danbury. The four-week series of shows includes: “The Wind in the Willows’ (July 11); “Me and Star: A Sybil Ludington Story”(July 18); “The Three Little Pigs” and “The Reluctant Dragon” (July 25); and “Rapunzel and Baby Yaga” (August 1).

Robert Mayette of Ridgefield adapts and directs these classic tales, performed by an ensemble of young area actors. The hour-long, interactive performances include plenty of audience participation, a show-related craft activity, birthday recognitions and a visit with narrator and troubadour Alan-a-Dale, played by Mayette.

Director Mayette says, "Fairy Tale Theater brings forth a wide range of stories designed to delight children while offering themes and humor for the accompanying adults. This year, we are revisiting Kenneth Grahame, author of the beloved classics The Wind in the Willows and The Reluctant Dragon. In celebration of America 250, we will share a version of the legend of local heroine Sibyl Ludington, interwoven with Dutch folklore. Our third week features a comical update of The Three Little Pigs, and we close the season with a new take on Rapunzel that intertwines with the legends of Baba Yaga. Basically, something for everyone! We hope you’ll join us on Saturday mornings at Richter Park and help us create some magical memories.”

The 2026 Fairy Tale Theater company of young actors includes Brisa Pierce, Vica Pierce, Kael Cummings Da Silva, and Liberty Cummings of Danbury; Charlotte Mayette, Emily Mayette, Linden Spreng, Sloane Schmeidel, and Ruby Higley of Ridgefield; Clara Danenberg and Lucy Palinkas of Newtown; Alex Romao of Bethel and Emily Hughes of Lagrangeville, N.Y.

Grounds open at 10:30 a.m. for the craft activity, with the show at 11 a.m. Bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn, along with sunscreen; the performance will move indoors in the case of inclement weather.

Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased at the door. A small snack and drink concession is available. For further information, visit the website at musicalsatrichter.org, leave a message at 203-748-6873 or e-mail info@musicalsatrichter.org.
