City Of Danbury? There's An App For That…
A new, free app promises to make it "easier than ever" for Danbury residents to engage with City officials and agencies.
DANBURY, CT — A new, free app promises to make it "easier than ever" for Danbury residents to engage with City officials and agencies.
myDanbury was announced Tuesday, and is currently available from the Apple iOS App Store and Google Play.
Most of the functionality of the new software is duplicated on the City's webpage, and many of the app's menu choices are links to existing web pages, including the City's Facebook and Instagram pages.

New to the phone experience is a function enabling residents to directly report concerns like blight, noise, and potholes. The app makes use of the phone's own global positioning system to inform City services where the problem is originating. The function will contribute towards "ensuring faster response times," according to a news release from City Hall.
Mayor Roberto Alves touted the new app as a "a platform to access essential city services from anywhere, giving residents a direct line to City Hall."

Residents may also tap into the City’s online tax payment portal, and submit questions for Alves' weekly "Ask the Mayor" Facebook Live series. The app also provides links to the website's City calendar, voting information, Permit Center, and parks pages.
It's a smart move: the data may be coming from the same server, but the way even older residents prefer to consume it is changing rapidly. A 2023 survey of 2,000 U.S. adults discovered 70 percent believe apps are gradually replacing websites. Although 69 percent of those surveyed by OnePoll on behalf of Cricket Wireless use their smartphone daily, only 44 percent report using their desktop or laptop with the same frequency.
