'Compassion Triumphs': Danbury Mayor Urges Vaccine In New Video
Mayor Esposito credits front line workers, municipal employees, teachers and businesses for the city's rebound during the COVID-19 pandemic.

DANBURY, CT — Mayor Dean Esposito and the city's Health and Human Services Department have released a new video that provides an overview of the city's arc through the pandemic.
Esposito appears in the video with city health director Kara Prunty and emergency management director Matt Cassavechia. He credits front line workers, municipal employees, teachers and businesses "of all sizes" for the city's rebound during the course of the COVID-19 crisis.
"This pandemic threw everything at us during the last two years, and as Danburians we showed Connecticut how compassion and resiliency triumphs," Esposito says in the video. "The best success story is yet to come, and we’re going to write that chapter together."

In the video, the mayor recommends residents continue to get vaccinated, boosted, wear a mask in public settings and "do your best to stay healthy."
As of Thursday, nearly 73 percent of Danbury residents have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Danbury had 121.6 average daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 27.10 percent between Jan. 9-22, according DPH. There were 206.6 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period.
