Coronavirus Danbury: 29 Confirmed Cases, WCSU Preps Beds
College dorm rooms could be used to house Danbury's homeless, who are at a higher risk to come down with the virus.
DANBURY, CT — Western Connecticut State University is preparing Fairfield Hall, a 108-bed building on the Midtown campus in Danbury, to act as an emergency shelter to house patients suffering from the new coronavirus patients, NBC Connecticut is reporting.
WCSU is just one of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities that is working with state Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and other partners to find ways to help combat the new coronavirus outbreak.
The News-Times is reporting that the college dorms could be used to house Danbury's homeless. Space at shelters is at a premium during the pandemic, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned that homeless people are at a higher risk to contract COVID-19.

There are 29 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Danbury, according to the latest tally from the state Department of Health on Tuesday. Gov. Ned Lamont announced that the state had more than 200 new confirmed coronavirus cases since Monday. The state's total case count is 618 with 71 hospitalizations and 12 deaths.
