CT's Top Teacher Honored By Danbury School Board Tuesday
The Danbury Board of Education Tuesday night, officially honored the state's 2026 teacher of the year.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury's top teacher last year is also the state's top teacher, and the middle school teacher received his due before the city's school board on Tuesday.
Brian Betesh, a sixth-grade social studies teacher at Rogers Park Middle School, was named Connecticut's 2026 Teacher of the Year, and on Tuesday night, the Danbury Board of Education gave him his night, honoring him at their meeting.
Last October, Gov. Ned Lamont and state Education Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker announced the award during a surprise school assembly.

Betesh, who teaches sixth-grade social studies and is a Danbury native, was honored before students, colleagues, and local officials.
The Danbury Board of Education recognized Betesh at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The board stated Betesh "truly represents the heart of Danbury Public Schools."
They added his passion, commitment, and impact extend far beyond the classroom.
"Seeing him celebrated this evening was a powerful reminder of the incredible educators serving our students every day," wrote Danbury Public Schools on Facebook.
"Congratulations, Brian, and thank you for all you do for our students, schools, and community."
They congratulated Betesh and thanked him for his contributions to students, schools, and the community.
The award ceremony brought together state and local leaders to acknowledge Betesh's achievements.
