Danbury 2021 Election Results: Vote Totals For Every Race

DANBURY, CT — Republican Dean Esposito defeated Democrat Roberto Alves in a tight race for mayor, according to the official vote count by the Connecticut Secretary of State.

It was the first Danbury mayoral race not to have an incumbent in 20 years, following former 10-term Republican mayor Mark Boughton's appointment as commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.

Alves called Esposito to concede the race shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report in the News-Times.

Esposito was chief of staff under Boughton and current Mayor Joe Cavo, and ran on a platform touting the city's historic low crime and tax rates.

Republicans captured all seven at-large City Council seats, giving their grip on the majority from 11-10 to 14-7. The GOP also flipped the Board of Education and the Zoning Commission. Republicans will have a 6-5 majority om the BOE, and outnumber the Democrat zoners by 6-3.
