Danbury Advances Tax Break for High-Tech Growth

DANBURY, CT — A City Council committee has endorsed a plan which would allow companies to apply for a 50 percent discount on personal property taxes on high-tech data servers and information technology equipment, the News-Times is reporting.

The tax benefit, pitched by industrial gas manufacturer Praxair, would only be available to companies that invested more than $15 million in the previous tax year and would be limited to three years.

Praxair, headquartered in Danbury, is looking to build a multi-million dollar data center for its local headquarters.

The full City Council will consider the proposal later this summer.
