Danbury Announces Free Leaf Pick-up Program

The free service will begin on Monday, April 15, and will run for 6 weeks through Friday, May 24. ​

DANBURY, CT — Spring is not only in the air, but on the ground as well. In response, the Mayor's Office has released information on the city's Spring Leaf Pick-up Program.

The free service will begin on Monday, April 15, and will run for 6 weeks through Friday, May 24.

Only leaves bagged in paper leaf bags with no tape should be left at curbside in front of the residence for the city’s Highway Department to pick up. No large debris, grass, rocks, dirt garbage or animal waste will be picked up.

Branches will be picked up separately. Limbs must be cut into lengths no longer than 4 feet. No limb may be larger than 4 inches in diameter. Branches must be bundled with twine, no heavier than 35 lbs.

The Mayor's Office has advised that these restrictions will be strictly enforced.

The Leaf Pick-Up Program will be divided by I-84. Section 'A' is South of I-84, or zip code 06810, and Section B is North of I-84, zip code 06811. Section 'A' will be picked up the first week, April 15 through April 19. Section B will be picked up the following week, April 22 through April 26. This cycle repeats through May 24.

Both groups are asked to place their bags curbside Sunday evenings.

Pick-up dates are subject to change throughout the program. If your bags are not picked up on the scheduled week, they will be picked up prior to the termination of the program.

Ferris Mulch Products, located at 6 Plumtrees Road in Danbury, accepts leaf bags, tree, and organic yard debris from Danbury citizens.
