DANBURY, CT — Danbury’s proposed 2026-27 budget passed Tuesday night after city officials lowered the anticipated tax increase ahead of the final vote.

The City Council approved the budget in a 19-1 vote after Mayor Roberto Alves recommended reducing the proposed mill rate from 25.37 to 25.23 mills following an additional $1.4 million in state education aid, according to city officials.

The amended budget represents a 0.96 percent mill rate increase.
