Danbury Coronavirus Update: 6 More Residents Test Positive
As of March 26, a total of 1012 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported among Connecticut residents.
DANBURY, CT — Six more residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the Connecticut Department of Public Health confirmed on Thursday. That brings the number to 69 active COVID-19 cases in Danbury.
The City reported its first fatality from the virus on Wednesday.
"We expect there are more," Mayor Mark Boughton said in a livestream address on Facebook, "because people who took the test in New York but live in Danbury" wouldn't be tracked by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

As of March 26, a total of 1012 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported among Connecticut residents. Cases have been reported in all 8 Connecticut counties. One hundred and twenty-five patients were hospitalized, and 21 residents have died (13 in Fairfield County, three in Tolland County, two in Hartford County, two in New Haven County, and one in Middlesex County), according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 6,500 tests have been reported.
Gov. Ned Lamont has declared a "Stay Safe, Stay Home" program. All non-life-sustaining businesses in Connecticut have been closed, and the governor has asked Connecticut residents to limit social gatherings to just five people.

The State of Connecticut has instituted a Recovery Bridge Loan Program for businesses or nonprofits with 100 or less employees. Details and the application form are available online.
Danbury Hospital has set up a COVID-19 Community Hotline to address questions and concerns for community members. Be advised that this dedicated hotline is for community members who are concerned about symptoms they may have. Other inquiries can be answered on the hospital’s website. Residents experiencing symptoms are encouraged to call this line to mitigate the high-volume call-intake of our emergency departments and medical practices.

Danbury Public Schools are closed until further notice, and will be moving to a Distance Learning Model starting March 30.
The Danbury Public Library is closed to the public and staff are no longer on site. Questions can still be sent via call, email or social media. The Book Drop is closed and all due dates have been extended until April 15. The Library has online resources, including downloadable books, audiobooks, streaming video and music, language learning, and research databases available through its website.
Until further notice, the following modifications to services provided by the Danbury Police Department are in effect:

Officers will maintain social distancing whenever possible
Officers may handle certain types of calls by telephone when possible
Police Records Requests:
The Records Division is closed to the public until further notice. Please call for inquiries, if possible.
Medical Assistance Calls:
- EMS Personnel in proper gear will be primary responders
- Unless there are exigent circumstances, police personnel will remain outside until cleared to enter by EMS
The following service suspensions are in effect until further notice:
- Public Fingerprinting
- Child Car Seat Installations
- Tours of Police Headquarters
- Police Explorers
- Citizens Police Academy
- Use of the community room

Danbury residents and visitors must call ahead and schedule an appointment with a department before entering any City Hall office. Open departments are listed below. Appointments are available between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and no walk-ins will be taken at this time. Departments will be providing essential services only. For example, if your issue can be resolved via phone or email, staff will assist you remotely.
The Danbury Probate Court is closed, however you may call the Court at 203-797-4521 during usual office hours, Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nonessential hearings will happen by phone or be postponed.
Employment applications for the Human Resources Department can be placed in the drop box by the front door. Applications will be available in the lobby.
