Danbury City Council Advanced $3M Proposal For Public Improvements To May Vote

Funding could support drainage upgrades, sidewalk work and other infrastructure projects across the city.

DANBURY, CT — The City Council advanced more than $8 million in funding for public improvement projects as part of the city’s proposed 2026–2027 capital budget during its April 7 meeting.

The capital improvement plan will continue moving through the budget process ahead of a final vote in the coming weeks.

The funding would support a range of infrastructure upgrades across Danbury, according to city documents presented to the council.

Proposed projects include sidewalk repairs, drainage improvements, engineering and design work, as well as stormwater system upgrades.

Some of the funding would go toward underground storage tank removal and replacements, according to the proposal.

Additional funding would support citywide bridge repairs, general engineering work and related project costs.

The projects are expected to be funded through the issuance of bonds, according to city documents reviewed by the council.
