Danbury Crews Rescue Driver From Overturned Truck In I-84 Ravine
The driver of a heavy dump crashed down a ravine between lanes on Interstate 84.
DANBURY, CT — Connecticut state troopers and Danbury crews saved the life of a man whose truck fell down a deep ravine between the eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate 84 Wednesday.
The first state trooper on the scene between I-84 east and westbound at Exit 7 found a heavy dump truck in the ravine and the driver unconscious and entangled in the wreckage. The trooper performed life-saving care on the driver until Danbury Fire and EMS units arrived moments later, according to Danbury Fire Department officials.
Crews established a system of ropes to safely access the wreckage, free the driver from the cab of the truck, and haul him back up the hill to the roadway. The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
